Wind professionals, trainees, and enthusiasts all across the country are meeting up at the world’s largest annual wind conference! The WINDPOWER 2009 Conference and Exhibition is being held in Chicago this year from May 4th to 7th and is hosted by the American Wind Energy Association, the national trade association for the wind energy industry.

The conference features presentations and networking opportunities for people from all walks of the wind industry: manufacturing, development, wind assessment, and legal, just to name a few! Chicago’s McCormick Place convention center is packed with 13,000 people and over 1,200 exhibitors including National Wind and 15 of its employees.

The conference was originally scheduled to take place in Minneapolis in June, acknowledging Minnesota’s position as a leader in wind energy development. However, due to the overwhelming numbers of people expected to attend, AWEA had to move the conference to Chicago’s larger conference facilities. In addition to presenting numerous wind energy exhibits and workshops, the conference also hosts a 5k Race that will contribute to the AWEA Educational Scholarship Program, puts on a Wind Energy Job Fair, and includes a performance from the internationally recognized band Blues Traveler.
